Quite astonishingly, at the end of last year, they said, “Let’s go for it.” This organically grew out from last year.
RICK THE WALKING DEAD SHOW TV
I said, “Wouldn’t it be nice to do this.” It’s never been done by a cable TV channel and I didn’t think it would come to much. There were many iterations of the story and it became rather late last year that this because it was a pipe dream.
RICK THE WALKING DEAD SHOW SERIES
So why don’t we try to potentially continue this story in a different way and maybe complete his story so the mothership can continue?Īt what point did Rick surviving and being spun out into this series of movies become an option? And yet there was a part of me that thought, “I don’t think I’m done with the guy.” I love this character I love the world that we inhabit.
RICK THE WALKING DEAD SHOW PORTABLE
That coincided with my personal reasons - which, on my end, are that kids become less portable as they get older. We plucked a number out of the air which sounded quite reasonable: if we could make it to season eight. Scott and I spoke in season four - and we share a similar domestic situation in that we both have young families and we were plotting out the rough shape of the next potentially two, three and four years of our lives. You’re leaving The Walking Dead flagship, and Rick is being spun off into three feature-length movies to air on AMC. In the interview that follows, Lincoln - who, with Gimple, first hatched this plan as far back as season four - talks with THR about how his transition from The Walking Dead proper to the movies, how Rick was originally supposed to die in season eight and working with returning stars Jon Bernthal (Shane), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha) and the late Scott Wilson (Hershel). (Rick, like his son Carl, is still alive in the source material on which the AMC show is based.) That allows Lincoln to spend more time with his family at home in England, while helping Gimple with his mandate to expand what AMC is calling “ The Walking Dead Universe.” In success, the goal is to spend two months in production on each feature - a far cry from the nine months a year Lincoln has spent in Atlanta for the decade in which he has portrayed the iconic character from creator Robert Kirkman’s comics. Production on the first big-budget telepic will begin production in 2019, with former showrunner-turned-chief content officer Scott M. But their relationship, is one the most powerful examples of how love can find itself and thrive even in the darkest of times and places. With that, The Hollywood Reporter can reveal that Lincoln’s days of playing Rick Grimes will continue in three feature-length movies that will air on AMC (and possibly another outlet). Sure, the two have had their disagreements in the past and perhaps at one point been strangers to one another. Has both he and Michonne changed to the point where their solid and unbreakable relationship will be nonexistent. Which let’s be honest, the cause is basically sacrificing innocent lives (and possible threats) in the name of science and understanding walkers.īut did Rick go down that path? If so, is he simply faking it so he can one day escape and return to his friends and family? Many assumed Rick was going to be one of the soldiers, practically brainwashed to obey the Civic Republic, believing in the cause.

Long enough for The Whisperers to come and go and the group being discovered by The Commonwealth. Rick was taken by Jadis AKA: Anne by the Civic Republic who, as we’ve seen in The Walking Dead: World Beyond, aren’t heroes but villains. Long enough for Michonne to have their son, RJ, whom Rick doesn’t know exists. It has been several years since they were last together. It wasn’t until she met Virgil that she had her first clue of Rick’s survival and whereabouts. Sadly, as many recall, Michonne had assumed Rick died, even when others like Daryl continued to search for him. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before?” What will happen in The Walking Dead Rick and Michonne Grimes spin-off? What will this spin-off be about? Well according to the logline as quoted by Variety, “Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. The announcement came during San Diego Comic-Con and received jovial applause from excited fans! Keep in mind this six episode spin-off will not be airing until next year. Yes, the king and queen of the apocalypse will be starring in their own, currently unnamed, spin-off! He’s starring in his own spin-off with Michonne, AKA: Michonne Grimes. Well, the biggest question on every fan of The Walking Dead’s mind may finally be answered.
